Scotch Plains Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Involving E-Bike
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ –
The Scotch Plains Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a landscaping truck and an e-bike that occurred earlier today.
At approximately 2:12 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, officers responded to the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Mountain View Avenue for a report of a collision. Upon arrival, they found a juvenile male with critical injuries.
The juvenile was immediately transported by the SPFD EMS to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the landscaping truck was located a short distance from the scene and is fully cooperating with investigators.
The intersection was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since been reopened to all traffic on Mountain Avenue. Mountainview Avenue will remain closed. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing. The Scotch Plains Police Department urges any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to come forward immediately.
