4/1/25

A resident of Harwich Ct. reported being a victim of fraud.  A check that was mailed out was cashed at a check cashing establishment in NYC.  It appears the check was intercepted in the mail and was washed.

 

4/3/25

The owner of Lawn-Gevity reported fraudulent activity regarding a check he wrote to an employee.  It appears the check was cashed at a check cashing establishment in Plainfield.  After, someone tried to deposit the check multiple times.  This matter is under investigation.

 

4/4/25

Justin Brown, a 46-year-old-male, who claims to be homeless, was arrested as a result of a trespassing investigation.  The manager of the McDonalds reported that Brown was in the business causing damage in the dining area.  A check for warrants showed an active warrant out of Cranford.  Brown was processed and released with a new court date.

L.C. Barnes, a 69-year-old-male who resides at 716 Russell Pl., Plainfield, was arrested for DUI.  He was processed and released with summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container.

Arvind Anandacoumar, a 31-year-old-male, who resides at 4 Herbert Rd., Scotch Plains, was arrested for an open traffic warrant out of Scotch Plains.  He was processed and turned over to Municipal Court, which was in session.

Emmanuel R. Tolentino, a 26-year-old-male, who resides at 1585 Front St., was charged with burglary after an extensive investigation by Det. Serafin.  Tolentino was charged with the  8-1-24 burglaries to Popeye’s and the Scotchwood Diner.  He was also charged with the 11-29-24 burglary to Wine Anthology.  Tolentino is a fugitive at this time.

 

4/15/25

Harren D. Richardson, a 55-year-old-male, who resides at 1227 Front St., Plainfield, was arrested for DUI.  P/O Durante stopped Richardson for a suspended registration when he observed the driver to be intoxicated.  Mr. Richardson was charged with DUI and DUI Refusal.

Thomas Covello, a 40-year-old-male, who resides at 2353 Morse Ave., Scotch Plains, was arrested for traffic warrants as a result of a motor vehicle stop by P/O Durante.

Cheyenne Jones, a 22-yer-old-female, who resides at 1750 E. 2nd St., Scotch Plains, was charged with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.  She was arrested and transported to Essex County Jail.

A stolen motor vehicle, which was reported by a dealership in Somerville, was recovered at 1985 Route 22 W.  The vehicle was parked in the lot and was noticed by P/O Raimondi.

 

4/27/25

Rakiya Kearney, a 24-year-old-female, who resides at 24 Fenimore Dr., Scotch Plains, was arrested for DUI.  P/O Von Langen observed Kearney stopped at a green light at the intersection of Raritan Rd. and Martine Ave, apparently asleep in the driver’s seat.  Kearney was charged with DUI after a breath test showed her to have a BAC of .08%.

Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with a vehicle overturned at the intersection of Raritan Rd. and Martine Ave.  Karin Mora-Vargas, a 22-year-old-female, who resides at 2510 New York Ave. Apt. 2, Union City, was arrested and charged with DUI after breath tests proved her BAC was .11%.

A resident of Jackson Ave. reported someone entered his vehicle overnight.  Nothing was taken from the vehicle.  This matter is under investigation.

A resident of Hunter Ave. reported someone entered his vehicle overnight.  Nothing was taken.  This matter is under investigation.
