10/10/24

Laquan White, a 22-year-old-male, who resides at 21 18th Ave., Newark, was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection to the ATM theft from the Scotchwood Diner.  White was already being housed in Hudson County Correctional Facility for separate charges. 

 

10/14/24

The resident of 1920 Stonybrook Cir. reported a burglary to their residence.  An unknown suspect attempted entry into the rear of the house but was scared off by the alarm.  A vehicle in the driveway was entered but nothing was taken.  This matter is under investigation.

 

10/16/24

The CVS reported shoplifting.  An unknown black male and female filled a shopping basket with approximately $100 worth of goods and fled the store.  They fled in a black Jeep with tinted windows.  This matter is under investigation.

 

10/23/24

The manager of Ekonkar Car Motors, 2040 Rt. 22 E, reported the attempted theft of a vehicle overnight.  An unknown actor smashed the back window of the vehicle but was unable to remove the vehicle from the lot.  This matter is under investigation.

 

10/22/24

David Wells, a 35-year-old-male, who resides at 520 Harvard St., Piscataway, was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant.  He was turned over to Essex County Corrections.

 

10/23/24

The owner of 2470 Plainfield Ave. reported the theft of his van overnight.  Detectives recovered the vehicle a short time later in Newark.  This matter is under investigation.

 

10/23/24

Isom T. Sims, a 45-year-old-male, who resides at 1585 St. Ann St, Scotch Plains, was arrested for defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct at Police Headquarters for trespassing on restricted Police Property.  He was also charged with terroristic threats, defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred on 10/5/24 involving a separate police investigation which he was not involved in.

 

10/28/24

The resident of 2021 W. Broad St reported a burglary to his residence.  An unknown male entered the residence through an open garage door.  The homeowner confronted the male in the residence.  The male ran out and got into an awaiting vehicle and fled the area.  A purse was stolen from the residence.  This matter is under investigation.
